I am David Dawes. This site is here to show off my
pictures and the model railways I build for exhibition and personal enjoyment.
I have had an interest in Photography and Model Railways since I was young.I started photography with a Pentax in the late 70's working my way through most of the major company's, I now use Panasonic G2 with assorted lenses and a Fuji X10
I never finished a Model Railway when I lived at home, having one in the roof space then in the garage. It was not until I had my own place that I could hone my skills.
The first Exhibition Layout I built was Chester (featured in the ContinentalModeller Feb 2004).This was based on a proper location on the Vermont/Green Mountain Railroad in Vermont,USA .It was 14' long x 6' deep, and ran using a Digitrax DCC system, which was unusual at the time.
Chester was on the exhibition circuit from 2001 to 2004 when it was retired.
Lincoln, (Continental Modeller March 09)has now retired
California Coast is Z scale and as the name is set along the coast of California. Now sold to a new owner, but still to be exhibited.
Turtle Creek did its one show complete at High Wycombe and has now been dismantled
I am going back to my love of N scale with a new compact French layout, Plemont . Then an American N set in the late 1950's using Central of Georgia, Tag and Southern loco's & stock. This layout will have a full moving Surroundtraxx system for the loco sounds.
